What to Bring to Calico House Respite Service?

To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Calico House Care Home, we recommend bringing the following items:

Clothing:
We recommend that you bring enough clothing to your new home, and while we offer a laundry service, we encourage you to bring items that are comfortable and practical for daily wear. For identification purposes, please label or mark your clothing with your name. If you prefer, our staff can add your initials to the inside labels to ensure your clothes are easily identifiable. This helps us ensure your belongings are well cared for.

Toiletries:
While we provide basic toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, we encourage you to bring any personal hygiene products you use regularly. This includes items like your toothbrush, toothpaste, and any other grooming essentials that will help you feel more at home and maintain your daily routine. Once we know what you are bringing with you, we will be happy to reorder these items back in for you.

Medication:
Your health and safety are our top priorities. Please bring all medications in their original prescription packaging, as we cannot accept pre-dispensed medications for safety reasons. It is also helpful to bring a list of your current medications and any relevant medical information. This allows our staff to manage your medication and care needs effectively.

Specialist Equipment:
If you require any specialist equipment such as mobility aids (walkers, wheelchairs) or medical devices, please bring them along. Having your own familiar tools will enhance your comfort and independence during your time with us.

Continence Aids:
To ensure your comfort and well-being, please bring any continence products that you typically use. This ensures that your personal needs are met without disruption. Once we know what you are bringing with you, we will be happy to reorder these items back in for you.

Cash:
It’s helpful to bring a small amount of cash for incidental expenses, such as for outings, purchasing snacks, or participating in local activities. This will allow you to enjoy some flexibility at your new home.

Dietary Supplements:
If you take any dietary supplements or vitamins, please bring them with you. Maintaining your usual health regimen is important for feeling your best, and we will support you in managing your dietary needs.

Personal Effects:
To help make your new home feel more personal, we encourage you to bring items that provide comfort, such as family photos, favourite books, or small mementos. These familiar items can create a warm and welcoming environment, allowing you to feel more at home.

If you have any questions or need further assistance regarding what to bring, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Home Manager. We’re here to ensure that your experience at Calico House is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible!
